Public access – maybe a charge Historical site
The southern part of Sherwood Forest was the Royal Forest. Bestwood Country Park was a former royal hunting park used by Kings and Queens until Charles II reign. Newstead Abbey is the ancestral seat of the Lord’s Byron.
There are strong Robin Hood connections in the Rainworth Water valley from Thieves Wood and Harlow Wood through to Blidworth.
